Things are not what they look. Part III
January 30th, 2007 FunForever
And again a compilation of realistic looking ads. Enjoy!
Ad: Ever fancied yourself a Playmate? Well now you have such opportunity with this Playboy towel.
Agency: Grey, Argentina

Ad: A car in a window. Fiat Idea shaped adhesives were placed on the windows of airplanes. Panoramic view.
Agency: Leo Burnett, Brasil

Ad: Advertising promoting hand-washing. The sign on the doorknob says: “You washed. This guy didn’t.” or “92% of guys say they washed. 34% were lying.”. Pretty hilarious. (Btw, did you wash your hands?)
Agency: JWT, Toronto

Ad: “With 19% fat you can easily enjoy a bit more”?, says Rama.
Agency: Jung von Matt/Alster, Germany

Ad: From a distance you will see a police car, hiding behind a billboard, what police in Turkey typically does. What do you do? You slow down and slowly drive to the billboard text - “Pay your traffic tickets on time without waiting in line - isbank.com.tr”
Agency: Rafneri, Turkey

Ad: Merchandising idea for Che Men’s Magazine cross-media campaign, a real duvet and two pillow covers, so that you never sleep alone.
Agency: Duval Guillaume, Belgium

Ad: Peep into that hole -“Papa John’s” pizza is here.
Agency: Saatchi&Saatchi, Peru

Ad: Similar ad to the previous, but even more tempting - a guerilla for Otto Catalogue?, a huge mail-order company in Germany. Model Eva Padberg personally presented it to thousands of homes.
Agency: Kolle Rebbe, Germany

Ad: Old, but also nice advertisment was placed on the way to the Munich airport in Germany as a part of the Impossible Team? theme for 2006 World Cup.
Agency: TBWA

Ad: Another towel, though this time, less happy. For Skin Cancer Awareness?.
Author: Mike O’Sullivan

Ad: This Ford Mustang billboard isn’t painted - it was created using a special type of semi-transparent material, that blurs the background to make it look like you are driving really fast.
Author: Ian Hart

These two ads present cool ideas, unfortunately neither client nor agency is known.

Dear Unknown, who have left such comment: “The Rama ad is by Jung von Matt/Alster, Germany”,
We accidently erased your comment, so we apologize for that and thank you so much for your information - see updated post.

I would definitely open the door if that model was at my door.

This is an unusual website. SAome of these photo’s could be used by criminals to gain entrance into your home. The photo’s that were placed on the doors peephole could allow a person to come in and rob you or cause physical harm to you.

Debra… calm down. Take a deep breath… hold it… now, slowly, let it out. There you go! That easy. Now thats the first step to the common problem of always thinking negative over images on sites because you don’t have a sense of humor.
Actually, when you REALLY look through the peep hole, you can tell it is fake, unless if you are half blind, in which you shouldn’t be using the peep hole anyhow. OMG an ad… the world is going to end. Criminals are going to use Papa Johns to kill you. Ahhhh!
Sorry, I’m stumbling and EVERY forum or comment place has to have someone making humor negative. >_

i recognise the subway map on the ‘guy caught in the door’. it is for the Beijing (China) metro. not enough detail in the pic to see what he is saying/advertising.
great pics!

Michelle, you ever hear of of negligence? It’s a legal term, when you do something stupid which causes harm and results in hefty attorney fees.
I’d also aply that to the elevator door.
Cluestick: some people aren’t expecting something wierd to pop up in their face when they’re going about their daily business, and accidents can occur as a result. Guess who’s responsible?
Maybe instead of expecting other people to automatically agree with whatever you find funny, other people might expect you to have a brain that works.

The last 3rd one seems to be in Beijing’s Subway.
24. hefferovic | November 1st, 2007 at 8:05 am
hello michelle
can you believe these two brilliant women, debra and andrea? they have saved millions who could have had a “horrible accident” by seeing a sticker on the elevator or who could have been killed because they would think “oh again that’s the hot model in a bikini that comes by everyday, I will open the door right away!”. hey hey, you saved the world today.
what poor lives they must be leading with this constant anxiety and ridiculous ideas about what’s moral, safe and proper. so pitiful.

It’s nice to see so many creative ads in the sea of usually mundane.
30. Fuogger | March 28th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
The last photo (the one with the dog) is real and it’s from Iam’s and is indeed on their front gate.
31. Buster | April 10th, 2008 at 6:52 pm
The Ford Mustang ads are mock-ups and not real boards. It should be noted that they do not actually exist. The others are quite humorous.
