Kielder Observatory

July 24th, 2008 FunForever

This pier like building is an observatory built by Charles Barclay Architects in Northumberland, UK. The observatory houses two permanent telescopes in 36o degrees rotating turrets and observation deck for private telescopes. The observatory also generates it’s own power with a wind turbine, photo voltaic panels and composting toilet. It’s perfect place to watch the night sky because of Kielder’s lack of light pollution.
