Falcon 1 Launch Successful

4th time is the charm. That’s now how it goes but it does for SpaceX. Their forth attempt of launching a rocket, Falcon 1 into space from their launching system was successful. This is a momentous moment as it is the first private rocket to reach space. Also, the Falcon Launch Vehicle Family is designed to provide breakthrough advances in reliability, cost, flight environment and time to launch. In other words launching rockets into space can been cheaper, faster and safer for the environment.

Mirror block Rubik’s Cube

For all you Rubik’s cube fans. If you’re bored with 3x3x3, 4x4x4 and 5x5x5 here’s another cube that might provide a challenge. The parts are uneven (not squares anymore) and the cube also changes shape when mixed. The video shows how it works in more details. It’s sold in Japan for about $20.

Race Across Azeroth

If you’re a World of Warcraft fan you’re going to love this. So Aaron and Eli decided to have a race from Shadowglen to Darnassus but the race involved actually running not sitting and pressing “W”. So they got a treadmill from amazon, calculated the maximum speed a mouse could track and hooked them up to WoW. The character Running speed was already measured by Tusky. The race lasted 4:50 minutes and the guys had to run 6 mph. I think most of the guys who play WoW would not make it to Dolanaar.

WASP Injector Knife

This knife is called the WASP injector knife and it’s especially useful for hunters and divers. When a bear or a an angry boar get too close you will have to rely on knife to save your life. It’s not likely to happen no matter how good you are with a knife because such animals may still kill you even with the blade sticking out of them. The WASP delivers a massive burst of freezing, compressed air into the stab wound that is capable of stopping even the largest land and sea predators.

Blue Flash

John Ivers was tired of waiting in lines for hours to ride the roller coaster so he built his own coaster in his backyard. He even installed a 360 loop oh his selfmade coaster. It took his 1.5 years to build but the result is fun and most importantly without lines. Video after the jump.

Joe DiPrima and Oliver Greaves designed and constructed these Tesla Coils while the music is developed by John DiPrima and Tony Smith.

Flight of the Fusion Man

Yves Rossy made a successful flight using his self-made jet wings on Wednesday. Now he is preparing for the flight across the English channel and it’s going to be shown live. The jets on the wings allow him to reach speeds of up to 300 km/h or about 180 mph. The steering is done by using the whole body. He landed using a parachute. I’m sure that after this flight we are going to see many more Fusion Men with jet powered wings.
