If all goes according to plan the first open air, underground football stadium will be built in Doha, Qatar’s capital in 2010. Most of the seats around the stadium will be underground except from one side which will extend to seat more people. Making an underground stadium solves 2 purposes. First, no one has done it before and second you won’t need to spend millions on air-conditioning.
This is the new project by Norwegian architect Snøhetta in the emirate of Ras Al-Khaimah, United Arab Emirates construction of which is set to begin later this year. Dubbed the house of the 21st century the styrofoam dome house has all the qualities of a good home. You might not think that styrofoam is not the best material for the house but the Japan Dome House Co., Ltd insists that styrofoam is perfect material for building houses.
The Dome House does not rust, rot or attract termites. It is also highly resistant to earthquakes and typhoons. In addition, the walls, which are treated with a flame retardant, emit no toxic fumes in a fire.
Assembling the house is fairly easy. Each section weighs 80 kg and it takes 3 hours to put the house together. The floor space of the dome house is 475 sq ft (44.2 sq meters) If it’s not enough you can attach a second dome to the house.
The price for the house is $30,000 not including the cost of transport, assembly, interior construction, etc.

The observatory houses two permanent telescopes in 36o degrees rotating turrets and observation deck for private telescopes. The observatory also generates it’s own power with a wind turbine, photo voltaic panels and composting toilet. It’s perfect place to watch the night sky because of Kielder’s lack of light pollution.

John Ivers was tired of waiting in lines for hours to ride the roller coaster so he built his own coaster in his backyard. He even installed a 360 loop oh his selfmade coaster. It took his 1.5 years to build but the result is fun and most importantly without lines. Video after the jump.
I love it when people come up with crazy ideas and then put them to life. Like building a house from bottles. It’s not the first nor the only bottle house but there aren’t many of them to go around so each is a work of art. The first bottle house was built in 1902 out of beer bottles. It was still pretty sturdy in 1980’s when it was demolished. If it stood for 80 years and was in good shape then bottles make a pretty good building material.
It’s difficult to say what the creator wants to say with these monuments. Some are a real mystery for example a giant fork or maybe a finger sticking out of the ground or a man with his head in the wall. And I definitely don’t understand the one with a guy with a spear on a horse. Anyway I still like them, so what if I don’t get them they are still pretty fun.
Yes, it’s a house made entirely from paper and cardboard and it was designed by the famous architect Shigeru Ban. As you can see it’s constructed mainly from square paper tubes. The structure is 15 feet long and even though it’s a paper house it looks pretty sturdy. Tomorrow (April 3rd) the house will be auctioned in London. The pre-sale price of the paper tea house is about $40,000 - $60,000
